Thurrock Mencap Society is a Charity run by volunteers and has been established for over 50 years. In 1968 this charity raise enough money, through fundraising, to purchased a holiday bungalow at Walton on Naze, Essex which has been maintained and modernised over the years

 

The Bungalow

The bungalow is fully central heated and double glazed. It can sleep up to 6 people although there are only two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have 2 single beds and the lounge contains a sofa bed. We do not supply bedding except duvet's and pillows, we recommend all bedding be brought with you. We have just purchased new mattresses for all the single beds.

 

Although the bungalow has been equipped with a ramp to the front door, a wide drive and a shower room, physical disabled people cannot use the bungalow if they have minimal mobility. The kitchen has a microwave, a small fridge freezer, washing machine and a gas cooker with a lovely conservatory looking out onto the garden.

 

We do require that at least one member of the hiring party are a member of a local Mencap organisation. Our membership is open to anyone who would like to hire the bungalow. (No pets except Guide Dogs are allowed at the bungalow).

 

We have a new beach hut about 5 minutes walk from the bungalow. It is open for use between April and September and is included in the price of the bungalow hire.
